SHANGHAI HOSTS HUNGARIAN CULTURAL WEEK AND LAUNCHES HUNGARIAN UNIVERSITY PROGRAMME
As a result of the improving cooperation between China and Hungary, the Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) announced it launched a Hungarian university programme, news agency MTI reported. The “Hungarian studies” degree programme was opened officially on Monday by SISU President Cao Deming and Judit Hammerstein, the Hungarian Foreign Ministry’s deputy state secretary for Hungarian institutes abroad and international education relations.
SISU is a prestigious university with many of its alumni having gone on to become leading figures in China’s political, economic and cultural life, Judit Hammerstein told MTI. The university has long been interested in launching a Hungarian studies programme, she added. Hammerstein, who also heads the Hungarian cultural Balassi Institute, noted that SISU was the second Chinese university to launch a programme in Hungarian studies after Beijing Foreign Studies University.
