Lukács Gyöngyi a Salgótarjáni Zeneiskolában kezdett hegedülni Torják Vilmos vezetésével. 12 évesen csatlakozott az Ifjúsági Szimfónikus Zenekarhoz és hamarosan számos amatõr zenekar és kamaracsoport lelkes tagja lett. 16 évesen a Salgótarjáni Szimfónikus Zenekarban játszott, majd zenész iskolatársaival megalapította a Salgótarjáni Kamarazenekar Egyesületet, mely lehetõséget nyújt az amatõr zenész fiataloknak a zenekari játékra a zeneiskola befejezése után. Gyöngyi a Szegedi Egyetem biológia szakos hallgatójaként brácsázott az Universitas Szimfónikus Zenekarban. Számos kamaracsoportban is zenélt az egyetemi évek alatt. 2009-ben a biológia PhD megszerzése után Dublinba költözött, ahol a Trinity College CRANN kutatóintézetében dolgozott. Dublinban csatlakozott a Dublin Orchestral Players zenekarhoz és rendszeresen részt vesz a Termonfechinben tartott kamarazenei kurzusokon. 2010 óta szerepel a Wexford Sinfonia-val is.

Gyöngyi Lukács started to learn the violin in the Salgótarján Music School, Hungary from Vilmos Torják. She joined the Youth Symphonic Orchestra of the music school at the age of 12 and soon she became an enthusiastic player with amateur orchestras and chamber groups. She was playing in the Salgótarján Symphonic Orchestra from the age of 16. With fellow amateur musicians she founded the Youth Chamber Orchestra in 1998. This ensemble provides an opportunity for amateur musicians from Salgótarján to play music after finishing their education in the local music school. Gyöngyi studied biology at the University of Szeged, where she was playing the viola in the Universitas Symphonic Orchestra. She has played in small chamber groups for many years. After finishing her PhD in biology she moved to Dublin in 2009. Currently she is working in the CRANN Institute, Trinity College Dublin. She joined Dublin Orchestral Players as a violinist and she regularly attends the Chamber Music Courses held in Termonfechin. Since 2010 she also plays with the Wexford Sinfonia, conducted by Fergus Sheil.
